The Atomic Kingdom of China, or China, is a new faction exclusive to Red Alert 3 Paradox, designed by Open Sketchbook and Kerensky287. The faction features attack-oriented units and strong base defenses, though they are limited by short-ranged weaponry and great need for power. But their MCV can fly, so there.

[edit] Background
[edit] The Civil War
By the time the Third Great War came, China had been fighting for nearly 30 years. The country had been completely and utterly destroyed by the two major factions, the Democrats (supported by the Allies) and the Communists (supported by the Soviets). Caught in the crossfire was the Royalist party, the last remnant of the monarchy that China used to be. By the time the fighting ended, the country was split in two, with only a small mountain base belonging to the Royalists.
For five years, the country was quiet. Only a few small skirmishes broke out along the Democrat/Communist border, and the Chinese populace made futile attempts to repair their devastation. Just when it seemed that the war had finally ground to a halt, a meteor streaked across the sky, impacting in the mountains between the two. Rumours spread of the remarkable properties of the material that had fallen, and the war started again in earnest. Eventually, both sides acquired samples of the mysterious substance, and discovered to their delight that it was true fissionable material, the holy grail of atomic science. Within months, both sides had created powerful atomic bombs, and because of the self-replicating nature of the material, they could be made cheaply and by the hundreds. It did not take long for them to be deployed against one another.
[edit] The Atomic Horror
Nobody knew who stuck the first blow, but for the next two weeks both sides flew hundreds of flights, saturating the country with atomic fire. What began as an attempt to force an end to the war became revenge strikes, and finally degenerated into desperate attempt to obliterate the other. The rolling blasts could be seen from orbit. When both sides had finally exhausted their stockpiles, they were reduced to shadows of their former selves, struggling just to survive in the radioactive wasteland they left behind.
[edit] The Royalists
From the ashes of the first nuclear exchange, a strange movement began. Dressed in the green of the Jade, the substance that had laid their mighty civilization low, they attacked with strange and outlandish technologies, this new Atomic Kingdom overran the Blue and Red Chinese, establishing themselves as the new lords of the blasted landscape under the heel of an army of cloned warriors wielding weapons of terrifying power. Having conquered the internal forces of China, they turned their eyes outward, to the Allies, the Soviets, the Syndicate, and the Japanese, who had perpetuated the struggle in China to it's fiery conclusion.
When Mao Zedong was brought before their court for his crimes, he asked who was the King of this new Kingdom they had created, as the old royal family they claimed to follow were dead. Before his execution, they answered his question. They explained that they were not a state like he understood them, just the vengeful shadow of the great civiliization he had damned. As he was escorted to the disintegration chamber, he learned the true nature of the Atomic Kingdom of China.
"Ghosts have no need for kings."
[edit] Gameplay Mechanics
[edit] Build Mechanic
When a building is selected from a Construction Yard, it quickly builds and deploys a small infantry unit called a Royal Architect. This unit can move to any location and deploy a teleport beacon, which teleports in a building. If this building is deployed within the limited build radius projected by other buildings, the construction time is instant, though if placed outside this radius the build time is extremely long, thus encouraging the Chinese to build small, compact bases.
[edit] Tier Mechanic
The Atomic Kingdom of China's technology level depends on the number of power plants their base uses. As Atomic China already consumes a great deal of power in order to function, this can be very convenient.
[edit] Special Abilities
Some units are “Zodiac Units” Any unit with an animal name is representative of an animal of the Zodiac and therefore functions in conjunction with other Zodiac units. When 3 or more unique Zodiac units are together in one place, they receive a defense bonus. In addition, any Zodiac unit near to a Zodiac Fist receives a damage bonus. Certain units require power in order to function. These vehicles consume units of power when built, and are shut down if you enter a low power state.
[edit] Units
[edit] Infantry
| Tiger | This animal scout is far more combat effective than other scouts, but is tragically frightened of water, and therefore cannot swim. Targeted secondary ability allows it to leap a large distance to attack an enemy infantry unit. | |
| Watchman | Armed with spears wreathed in atomic energy and ray crossbows, Watchmen are the basic combat infantry of the Middle Kingdom. When ordered to attack, Watchmen level their spears and charge the enemy, and can kill enemy infantry in a single hit. When their secondary function is used, their crossbows are activated, allowing them to fire onto enemy units to great effect. Watchmen are extremely cheap and disposable units. When garrisoned, the Watchman uses their crossbow automatically. | |
| Awakened | These genetically engineered, radiation exposed men have become muscle bound monsters capable of denting tank armour with their bare hands. Charging into combat, they smash enemy vehicles to pieces with ease. Secondary ability allows them to make a running leap, crossing large distances to ambush enemy units. | |
| Firework Master | These men carry special anti-aircraft rockets, which they launch upwards at enemy aircraft, providing that the Firework Masters are standing still. If desperate, the Firework Master can launch a large quantity of rockets directly upwards, though if they do not hit, they tend to come straight down on and around the Firework Master! | |
| Scholar | These engineer equivalents can capture enemy or neutral structures and repair your own. They possess a number of Corruption Grenades that can turn enemy vehicles into funds. | |
| Courtesan | Clones of the most beautiful women in all of China, these unassuming infantry are armed with a dangerous knowledge of martial arts and their alluring beauty. They are capable of stunning large number of units in a radius around them, providing these units are male. | |
| Noble Officer | These high-ranking members of the Watchmen Corps use long swords to deadly effect, and makes nearby Chinese infantry tougher and faster. Their special ability, Royalist Shout! Stuns enemy infantry. When garrisoned, they use a Radio Pistol to stun enemy units. | |
| Kite Warrior | These brave men strap themselves to kite wings to take to the skies. They use powerful tractor beams to pick up enemy infantry and drop them to their deaths. They carry a small energy crossbow to defend themselves against air attacks. | |
| Mingxia | This bright heroine is the last in a long line of practitioners of Jiao li, a four thousand year old martial art based on striking pressure points. When attacking regularly, Mingxia can take down an infantryman in a single punch, or punch through the armour of a battle tank. However, if required, she can unleash the full force of her art on an unfortunate enemy; after activating the pressure points, the enemy is turned into a ticking time bomb that will detonate with massive force! |
[edit] Vehicles
| Serpent Light Tank | This comparatively fast Zodiac unit is lightly armoured, but equipped with a gamma ray gun that slows enemy units and slays infantry with its poisons. Like the snake, the vehicle can use the landscape and it's low profile to avoid attackers, allowing it to use it's brief stealth mechanic to close with enemies. | |
| Nian Tank | The basic battle tank of the Chinese, the Nian tank is named for a ferocious feline beast of myth. This vehicle is armed with an all-purpose ray cannon that does large amounts of damage to any target, though their range is short. They require power to operate. | |
| Mantis Tank | The Mantis is the other main battle tank in common use. Armed with a pair of massive scything claws, the Mantis can cleave a tank in half with a single blow. This vehicle can also bury itself into the ground, with just the tips of the claws exposed, allowing them to jump out and ambush passing enemy tanks. | |
| Zodiac Fist | This unusual vehicle is equipped with a large, articulated hand wreathed in atomic fire. When it strikes, it sends units flying and can destroy buildings in a single hit. It can also strike repeatedly against enemy units to destroy them. | |
| Swine Dig Tank | This burrowing Zodiac vehicle is armed with a light rocket launcher and is capable of digging itself into the ground partially, turning them into turrets. Their rockets cause anti-infantry splash damage, but if they manage to strike a vehicle, they are effective. | |
| Rooster Pull Tank | This anti-aircraft Zodiac tank pulls enemy aircraft from the sky, and is extremely good at it. If desperate, it can target a single enemy vehicle and divert all power to pulling it from the sky; this has the unfortunate side effect of bringing the aircraft crashing down directly atop the Pull Tank! The Pull Tank requires power in order to function. | |
| Mobile Garrison | This APC carries 8 infantry, who can fire out the sides of the vehicle. Easily one of the most armoured Chinese vehicles, the Mobile Garrison allows infantry to reach combat much faster than normal. | |
| Monkey War Walker | These towering Zodiac combat machines use a terrifying weapon called a heat ray, an invisible lance of heat that destroys any enemy that falls under it's gaze. Radiation missiles allow it to deny the enemy ground and force them from garrisons. The War Walker requires power in order to function. | |
| Royal Dragon | The most ferocious of the Zodiac vehicles, the close-combat centered Royal Dragon is protected by an energy shield that reduces enemy damage, and is capable of firing a powerful beam of atomic energy from its mouth. The Royal Dragon requires power in order to function. |
[edit] Support Vehicles
| Rat Scout Trike | This quick, unarmed Zodiac vehicle acts as a scout for the Chinese forces, and can cross water as easily as land. When threatened, it can burrow under the ground to hide from enemy forces. | |
| Rabbit Teletank | The Rabbit is a Zodiac tank that uses a mobile version of the teleporter technology to “jump” enemy vehicles near to it (and into the range of Chinese weapons) It can also teleport friendly units that are near to itself farther away for a surprise attack! The Teletank requires power in order to function. | |
| Royal Gong Tank | This vehicle uses a timed system to activate a special reflecting shield that turns enemy attacks back onto a single enemy target. This makes it extremely effective as you move to attack the enemy. | |
| Ram Shield Tank | This vehicle projects a round shield similar to the shield tower, though smaller, and is immobile while projecting. When not projecting its shield, it places the shield in front of itself and quite simply plows into enemy positions to destroy them. The Ram Tank requires power in order to function. | |
| Orbital Construction Vehicle | The Chinese MCV equivalent, the OCV flies high above the battlefield. Automatically makes them awesome. |
[edit] Deployable Vehicles
| Radio Turret | A light deployable vehicle that permanently deploys into a small radio turret, which stuns enemy units. Once deployed, the Radio Turret can toggle to Passive mode, which disables the guns, but increases sight range. | |
| Deployable Tower | These units rise into a watchtower that can garrison a single unit. They are unarmed, but have a very large sight radius. | |
| Ray Cannon | This small vehicle deploys into a high-powered Ray turret, which is effective against all unit types. It cannot fire over walls. | |
| Teleporter Hub | This small vehicle deploys into a Teleporter Hub, which can teleport 3 infantry to any visible part of the map. | |
| Deployable Bunker | A heavier deployable vehicle, the well armoured Deployable Bunker holds 5 infantry, who can fire out. | |
| Repair Hub | This slow deployable vehicle becomes a structure that repairs and rearms nearby units, and can construct Dog Repair Vehicles.
Sub-Unit - Dog Repair Vehicle - These small, fast units Zodiac units damage their own health in order to heal and rearm vehicles.
| Pagoda Mobile Castle | This large deployable structure becomes a garrisonable fortress, with everyone a player needs to guard an area. In addition to holding 8 infantry, who can fire out, the Pagoda has a pair of auto-firing heavy ray cannons, an anti-air rocket array, and a long sight range. |
[edit] Aircraft
| War Throne | Flown by high-ranking officials, the War Throne is a gunship armed with stunning Radio Guns and increases damage of ground units in a radius underneath. It can use its special ability to instantly restore health to infantry nearby. | |
| Bird of Prey | The Bird of Prey uses its claws to attack enemy aircraft by diving into them and tearing them apart. Though extremely effective, it tends to damage itself while attacking, requiring it to periodically return to base for repairs. Luckily, it is capable of instantly teleporting back to its launch pad. | |
| Fenghuang Streamer Plane | The Stream Plane launches long colourful strings of explosive material that drifts slow downwards. While drifting, any enemy air that passes through them sets them off like a mine; once it touches the ground, they behave in a similar manner for ground units. Like the Bird of Prey, it can teleport home to repair and rearm. | |
| Peng Tractor Bomber | The Tractor Bomber uses a powerful tractor beam to suck enemy vehicles into its hold, where they are compressed and used as kinetic bombs against structures. Like other Chinese aircraft, it can teleport back to the landing pad. | |
| Defiance Flying Junk | This literal airship uses a large number of broadside rockets to attack ground and air targets, though it may take a while to switch between targets. Very slow to move and turn, the Flying Junk is armoured enough to take a beating and continue the fight. When destroyed, the onboard reactor has a tendency to go critical. |
[edit] Seacraft
| Ray-Shark | Some minor radio-borne mind control combined with the most terrifying hunter in the sea provide the Kingdom with an aquatic animal scout that, while not as fast as its dolphin brethren, does far more damage thanks to its augmented teeth. Oh, and it has a raygun mounted on its head that it can leap out of water to fire. Even mind-controlled creatures deserve a warm meal. | |
| Ox Aquatic Carrier | The Ox is a cheap, light amphibious vehicle that can transport a single land vehicle over water and land. Units inside the Ox can fire out, essentially turning the Ox into a combat vehicle when a unit is being carried. When a unit dismounts, the Ox is destroyed. | |
| Kun Ballistic Sub | This submarine carries a single tactical nuclear warhead, which it can use against enemy ground targets over a long range, though it must surface to fire. Before firing this missile, the Kun can use a pair of torpedo tubes to attack sea units. The Kun requires power in order to function. | |
| Lou Chuan Castle Ship | The Tower ship has very slight amphibious capabilities, which allows it to beach itself in order to load troops. The Tower can garrison 15 infantry units, who can fire out at enemies. | |
| Great Wing Ship | This large and unwieldy vessel is unarmed, but produces “Little Wing” patrol boats in its hold, which it launches when it attacks, like an aircraft carrier. The Great Wing Ship requires power in order to function.
Sub-Unit – Little Wing Patrol Boat - The light and fast Little Wing is armed with dual ray guns, which repeatedly strike enemy vessels before returning to the Great Wing.
| Pangu Submersible Carrier | This large vessel carries a squadron of aircraft, and can temporarily submerge itself in order to launch an attack past enemy defenses. The fighter bombers it use can attack both air and ground with their ray guns, and are very effective in numbers. The aircraft employs The Pangu cannot create new aircraft, and if they are shot down, it must return to a base or Repair Hub to reload. | |
| Jiaolong Dragon Ship | This heavy vessel uses long blades to strike and sink enemy vessels in close combat, and is extremely effective in this role. When its secondary ability is activated, the Jiaolong gains an impressive speed boost in order to close with the enemy. | |
| Qilin Ray Cruiser | The Qilin is armed with ten anti-air ray guns, which fire randomly into the air when aircraft approach. As a result, they do aerial splash damage. The Qilin can switch to a pair of powerful sea-based tractor beams, which can latch onto an enemy ship and reel them in. The Ray Cruiser requires power in order to function. | |
| Sea Hawk Infinite Battleship | The Sea Hawk is the largest and heaviest Chinese ship. Equipped with rows of ray cannons, the Sea Hawk destroys enemy vessels quickly and effectively at close range, or use its deck-mounted rocket launcher to strike out at land units. The Infinite Battleship requires power in order to function. If destroyed, the Sea Hawk has been known to suffer a devastating reactor meltdown. |
[edit] Structures
| Construction Platform | Suspended high above the battlefield, this is literately a flying building, and thus must be struck with anti-air weapons. | |
| Atomic Generator | Generates an extremely large amount of power, but explodes spectacularly on destruction. | |
| Refining Factory | In addition to being the basic Refinery, the Refining Factory constructs deployable vehicles. | |
| Barracks Tower | Constructs infantry units. Built in upgrade, “Clone Regiments” makes certain units built at this facility cheaper. | |
| Battle Workshop | Constructs combat vehicles. | |
| Vehicle Depot | Constructs support vehicles. | |
| Celestial Depot | Constructs air units and houses three aircraft. | |
| Marine Yard | Constructs naval units. | |
| Teleport Hub | This building can hold and teleport up to 6 soldiers to any visible part of the map. |
[edit] Defenses
| Curtain Wall | These walls are much tougher than other walls. | |
| Watchtowers | These universal defense towers are armed with an Atomic Raygun, are tall enough to fire over walls, and garrison up to 5 men, who can fire out. | |
| Tractor Tower | These towers use powerful tractor beams to pull aircraft out of the skies! | |
| Radiation Turret | Armed with a Gamma Ray Cannon, which slows and damages enemy vehicles and also instantly eliminates infantry. | |
| Shield Tower | Projects a large, circular shield which is impossible to shoot into (or out of), but does not stop vehicle movement. | |
| Power Walls | These extremely tough walls are almost impossible to break, but use a small amount of power. | |
| Radiation Missile | Launches a missile that irradiates a large area. This irradiated ground behaves much like the Desolator airstrike, though more powerful. It leaves a missile casing at the center of the effect that can be destroyed; if so, the effect lingers very shortly after but destroying the missile generally shortens the overall time of the effect. The only indication that an area is irradiated is the missile; friendly units are unaffected, but enemies who don't see the casing will have no idea what's killing them. | |
| Atomic Palace | This Offensive Superweapon, run by the most knowledgeable scholars and alchemists, slowly constructs a powerful atomic weapon, a bomb of unlimited power. When the weapon is ready, it is carried by a large, invulnerable bomber craft to the target and then dropped to horrifying effect. This is easily the most powerful superweapon in the game. |
